Bored of Education?
(At-Risk Youth/ Dropout Prevention Book)

"Someone FINALLY did it!"

When a young person asks, “Why should I go to school”, most of us find it difficult to provide an adequate answer. When we think about the state of the economy and the number of unemployed/ underemployed citizens, we all know that the traditional answers simply don’t apply anymore. As a result, the high school graduation rate in our country has slumped to nearly 50%. The nation is struggling to address the problem. Charter schools, dropout recovery and literacy programs are being implemented, but the question still remains…Why should our youth go to school?

BORED OF EDUCATION is the answer that parents, educators and youth service providers have been looking for!

Finally, a book that says all the things we know and have been thinking, but haven’t found the right words to explain. It’s all here! AND…its written in such a real-talk and practical manner, it simply makes sense!

BOOK EXCERPT:

Start With (and Keep)
the End in Mind

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. However, most of our life journeys are not straight paths; they are more like zig-zags. The more zig-zags we make, the longer it will take for us to reach our goals. Here is one way to reduce the amount of zig-zags that occur in our paths to success.

Start With and Keep the End in Mind.

Along your journey, you will be faced with an incredible amount of choices. Having so many choices can be overwhelming. At times, you may have difficulty deciding which choice to make. If you know your goal and keep it in mind, this will make the decision-making process easier. It will also lead you to make BETTER decisions.

This is how it works. When you have a number of options to choose from, all you have to do is ask yourself which choices will bring you closer to your goal. Then you eliminate the options that will take you away from your goal. From there, choose from the options left over. The more clearly fine tuned your goal is, the easier it becomes to make the best decision every time!

The Bottom Line: Start your journey with the desired result (goal) in mind. Keep this goal in mind as much as possible. By doing so, it will help you make better decisions when faced with multiple choices so you can keep it movin’!
